Photography Tips 1: What kind of gear (camera, lens etc.) should I use?

Photography Tips 1: What kind of gear (camera, lens etc.) should I use?

I have been constantly asked about what I use. To give a short answer, buy the gear that you can afford. To make a great art, the tools are indeed not important. Your passion and hard work will produce the outstanding images. First, try to discover what you like to shoot most (people, landscape, flowers […]

Point Reyes

Point Reyes is a nice location for shooting some mystic photos, especially when one catches it with some fog…The drive from San Francisco is also pretty nice. This photo is a single shot with Nikon D800 and 14-24 mm lens. Enjoy…

Japanese Maple Tree, Portland

During a recent trip along the west coast of the US, we went to Japanese Garden in Portland. It is an amazing place for photography. At first glance, these trees appear pretty small, but with a wide angle lens and a close-up shot, they look marvelous. If you get the chance, visit there to make […]

Golden Gate, embedded

Golden Gate, embedded

I woke up at 5 am and drove to Marin Hills a few days ago to catch the sunrise and fog over the Golden Gate Bridge. I took this photo at Slacker Hill, which is about 15-20 min hike up. It was an amazing overview of the scenery. This photo is not an HDR. It […]

Hong Kong, The Peak

Hong Kong, The Peak

I made this one at the famous Peak of Hong Kong. It was a great view to the amazing city. I used naturally a tripod for 30-40 seconds exposure. This is a single exposure. I then post-processed the photo further in Lightroom and Photoshop to enhance the local contrast.

New York, I love you

New York, I love you

Visiting NYC was a great adventure as someone who loves photography. There are amazing architectures in the city that one may spend several days but cannot finish shooting the amazing structures. Meanwhile, I started to do some 360 degree work. Here is a sample that I really liked the result, which was taken in NYC […]
